How To Get Blog Traffic from Pinterest

Posted on

Traffic from Pinterest – As a beginner, you will definitely wonder how to get traffic, how come my blog is quiet, even though I already followed tutorials in forums. I’ve also experienced things like this when I first made a blog. It does saturate seeing stats that don’t go up.

Basically, a blog can get traffic in a way, starting from content optimization, backlinks, sharing to social media and others.

For blogs that are still new, the easiest method to bring traffic is by using social media while waiting for SEO optimization results. In this case study, I used Pinterest as a source of traffic from social media.

How To Get Blog Traffic from Pinterest

1. Why is Pinterest?

Based on data from globalmediainsight.com, there are 110 million Pinterest users who are active every month, and most users are from the US. Every average user spends 98 minutes surfing on Pinterest every month.

Other facts about Pinterest:

  • Pinterest is the 3rd largest source of traffic in the US
  • Pinterest is the fastest growing website in history
  • 71% of users are women
  • Content on Pinterest is 80% more viral and 3 times more effective than Twitter
  • The 3 most popular categories on Pinterest: Food and Drink, DIY and Crafts, Home Decor.

2. Choosing the Right Niche

The blog that I created is arguably a semi wallpaper blog because it inserts a lot of pictures in each article. But certainly not the same as AGC blogs. At Sintesa Islamic Boarding School, we are not taught AGC methods. So it’s more appropriate to call it a visual niche blog.

Niche criteria that must be chosen are:

Visual Niche

Because it will use Pinterest, so choose niche-niche visuals like home design, automotive, pet, sports, outdoor, traveling, gardening etc. You can search for other niche ideas by looking at categories on Pinterest.

Shareable

Choose a niche that is interesting to share with Pinterest. Niche such as health or insurance does not include visual niches and images in this niche category are not attractive to share with Pinterest.

There is Organic Search

Besides utilizing traffic from Pinterest, traffic from Search Engines is also important. So look for visual niche keywords that have a lot of searches and stable trends.

Adsense Potential (HPK)

Because it will use Google Adsense as a source of blog income, look for keywords that are potential in terms of Adsense, the minimum CPC is $ 0.5 per click.

Can Affiliate

This is just an addition, it’s better if from the chosen visual niche there are also products that can be sold.

Again, not all niches can be shared with Pinterest, choose the right niche. In order to be more potential, choose a visual niche that does not contain images that reveal genitals. Visual niches such as tattoo and hairstyle should not be taken.

3. Theme Recommendations and Plugins

Choose WordPress themes that are SEO Friendly, Fast Loading and Clean. A theme recommendation that you can use for example Eleven 40 from StudioPress.com or Schema from MyThemeShop.com.

Plugins that must be installed include:

  • SEO Plugin: Yoast SEO or SEO Ultimate
  • Caching Plugin: WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache
  • Pin it Button: jQuery Pin It Button for Images or Image Sharer by SumoMe

Image sharers will make it easier for visitors to share interesting images on the blog. Sometimes there are visitors who only want to share certain images, not posting links.

 4. Making Picture List Articles (Listicle)

After choosing a visual niche and collecting potential keyword lists, set up a blog, the next step is to create content.

The type of content created is illustrated list articles. In each article, make a minimum of 10 illustrated lists, or preferably 30-50 pictorial lists.

Create articles of at least 1500 words, the introductory section is approximately 250-500 words, then followed by a pictorial list. Each picture must be given a description below 30-100 words. Don’t forget to include the image source in the caption section.

Btw, why do you have an illustrated list article? Because people are more interested in seeing pictures than reading long articles. After all, articles with a length of 5000 words are not necessarily good in SERP and not necessarily read all: D

The easiest way to create a listicle like this is:

Enter the keywords you want writing in the Pinterest search box, collect interesting images and have a lot of repin, then create the content.

Pinterest Friendly images usually have a 2: 3 or even longer ratio.

5. Tips for bringing in traffic from Pinterest

After everything is ready, now is the time to bring traffic to the blog. I use Pinterest as the first source of traffic while waiting for SEO optimization results.

Create a Pinterest Account

Create a business account on Pinterest.com, with a business account we can see Pinterest’s account development statistics such as total impressions, impressions, repin, click on websites etc.

Complete all profile data, use an interesting favicon, add the main keyword in the profile description section, and web verification.

Next, setting Rich Pins, how? Please study here.

Make a Board

Start by making at least 8 boards. The board is where the content is pinned or repin. Name each board based on the name of the category on the blog. Insert a long tail keyword on the board name and board description. If you’re lucky, your board will appear on page 1 of Google.

Add a pin to each board of at least 20 pins. Look for interesting and popular images, which is at least 500 repin.

Actively interact

Just like other social media, to get lots of followers on Pinterest, we also have to actively interact. To get followers, we usually have to follow first. On Pinterest, we can follow the board and follow people.

Build followers slowly, don’t hurry because it can be blocked by Pinterest.

Every day, do repin 30 interesting and popular images to 8 boards that have been created, like 20 images and follow 10 accounts (board or people).

Join the Big Board

After having a lot of followers, it’s time to pin the images on the blog. Add interesting description sentences and several hashtags.

So that the picture pin gets a lot of repin, of course, it must have a lot of followers or can also pin pictures to a group of boards that are many followers (Big Board).

First, we must first join many Big Boards whose niches are in accordance with niche blogs that are created. You can search for Big Board at PinGroupie.com.

How do you join it?

After finding the Big Board, pay attention to the description of the Group Board. Usually, each Group Board provides information on how to be invited to the Group Board. If there is no information, do the following,

First click on the Board owner, the user on the far left in the image below is the Board owner.

After entering the Board owner profile page, click the Pins tab, then click the latest pin.

Comment on the pin in the form of a request to enter the Group Board.

For example, the comments can be like this:

Hi, I would also like to become a contributor to your “…………” board, if that’s possible at all. Thanks for the consideration!

Hello! I would love to be added to your “… … …” board as a contributor. Thanks! 🙂

The Pinterest account that is created must look professional, so the board owner does not consider our account as a spammer. Indeed there is no guarantee to get an invite from the owner of the board. But the more requests to join the Group Board, the greater the chances: D

If we have joined many Big Boards, we can pin the pictures on the blog to the Big Board and our pins will be seen by thousands of followers. The more followers of the board, the more opportunities for traffic to blogs.

We will get a lot of traffic when the picture we pin gets a lot of repin. Imagine that every picture gets hundreds or even thousands of repin: D

But still have to be wise, don’t spam it to the Big Boards. Do it, as usual, 30 pins every day, can increase gradually.

What needs to be noted here is that we cannot do pins only from our own blog or board, but we must also copy images from other people’s accounts so that they still look natural.

6. Pinterest Autopilot

Of course, we can’t possibly pin every day to the Big Board, we can use the Social Media Marketing Tool like Viraltag, or Tailwind. Both of these tools can help us to autopin to group boards. We only need to schedule it.

For how to use these tools, please visit their respective websites.

7. Viral Ranking Effect

The results of SEO optimization certainly will not be felt in a matter of days, it takes several weeks or even months so that the optimized article can be on page one.

There are other events that can help speed up our article up to page one, namely viral effect. The page that gets a lot of traffic, the page authority will go up and continue to crawl to page one.

Initially, there might be a dance (rank up and down), but if the virus can last a long time, the ranking will also be stable. To strengthen the ranking position, link building must still be done.

Well, if only 1 article there are dozens of interesting images and each picture gets a lot of repin, slowly but surely the article will rise in rank position. In the end, we will get 2 sources of traffic, from Pinterest and from the Search Engine.

8. Conclusion

In this case study, the most important factors include niche and keywords; Pinterest friendly images; big boards; scheduling pins.

Yup … that’s how I brought traffic from Pinterest. In addition to this method, there are many other ways that are more effective and quickly bring traffic. May be useful 🙂
